Hazelton Brahmans already had a strong online presence, but as web standards shifted and image files grew heavier, their site had slowed down to a 51/100 mobile speed score. For cattle buyers, agents, and producers trying to pull up sire pedigrees or sale cattle details out in the yards on weak mobile coverage, high page weight and clunky manual layout buttons created unnecessary friction. The goal wasn’t to scrap a site that worked, but to give it a ground-up technical tune-up, shrinking asset sizes, automating backend button logic, and ensuring critical cattle data opens instantly on low-bandwidth paddock connections.

what we did

We gave the entire website a comprehensive performance, database, and custom CSS overhaul focused on mobile speed, automated logic, and field usability:

Drastic Image Compression: Rebuilt and recompressed the entire animal image library, shrinking individual animal photos from 66 KB down to just 8 KB each without sacrificing the crisp visual detail needed to showcase elite stud stock.
Smart Device “Content Negotiation”: Transitioned animal profiles to native Featured Images and updated the theme code so the site automatically detects a user’s device and serves next-gen AVIF/WebP graphics at the exact size required.
Mobile Header & Background Tuning: Re-engineered the heavy rustic timber background graphics and mobile banners, ensuring phone users no longer download massive desktop-sized graphics over mobile networks.
Automated Smart Buttons: Modernised the database logic so “Pedigree” and “Video” buttons now automatically display or hide based on whether media is attached—eliminating manual admin work and streamlining the layout.
Thumb-Friendly Mobile Styling: Rebuilt the custom CSS for action buttons (Catalogues, Scan Data, Pedigrees) so they stretch cleanly across smartphone screens for easy tapping in the field, while eliminating visual layout shifts.
Server-Level Caching & Preloading: Implemented advanced server caching, asset preloading, and clean analytics tracking to deliver zero-lag page renders.

The overhaul yielded an immediate performance surge, skyrocketing Hazelton’s mobile speed score from 51/100 all the way up to a 99/100 on Google PageSpeed Insights (alongside a 100 for Best Practices and 92 for SEO).

By stripping away data bottlenecks and streamlining page weight, sire pages and sale drafts now snap open instantly—even on weak 4G or 3G coverage out in the yards. Google actively rewards this low total blocking time and clean code architecture with stronger local search rankings, keeping Hazelton’s Brahman genetics right in front of regional buyers when purchasing decisions are being made.
